#1 Incorrectly Comparing Costs

Hands-down the most expensive mistake you can make as a couple is not understanding how to compare vendor and venue costs. Venues tend to be the most confusing due complex pricing structures and hidden costs.

Consequence: A lack of understanding of what to look for, and to ask can costs you thousands of dollars.

#2 Uneducated about the Questions to Ask

Most couples walk into a venue or hire a vendor without any idea of the types of questions to ask. It takes one poor vendor to make your wedding a joke- no kidding. Knowing how to hire and research the right vendors and book the right venue will make put you in control.

Consequence: you could spend a significant amount of money, and yet still unintentionally hire one vendor that distracts you from enjoying every moment.

#3 Not Aligning on a Budget

One of the biggest mistakes we see, are a lack of alignment on a budget. As a couple you should identify how you’re paying for your wedding, what the budget is, and then where to spend that money.

Consequence: most couples will grossly underestimate the costs of simple elements of their wedding which causes tremendous stress on the entire process. Additionally, many couples spend money on things that could’ve been spent on other things with a far better improvement on the guests experience.

#4 Improper Planning

Next to money, improper planning can be a strain on your wedding like you could never imagine. If you’re a planner, you might obsess over details that need to be delegated. If you aren’t a planner, you might be delegating to the last person on Earth that should be running the show.

Consequence: we’ve seen everything from bridesmaids dropping out days before the wedding, to brides crying because they failed to pay DJ properly and they didn’t show up. There is a reason Wedding Planners are in demand more than ever.

#5 Timeline Disasters

Poor timing can throw the entire wedding off. Everyone has their opinions about how a wedding should flow, and most are incorrect. Proper timelines mean significantly less stress and distraction, and more time enjoying friends, family, and dancing!

Consequence: you can cause significant strain on all of your vendors, guests and most importantly- YOU, by not having a polished timeline. Timelines are where we get more questions than anything else.
